The pandemic has left many people living in precarious housing situations, with an estimated 800,000 private renters behind on their rent. With possession cases progressing through the courts and the ban on evictions having ended on 1 June, there is a danger we will see a dramatic rise in the numbers of people losing their homes.
In response to this we are launching a housing advice helpline offering free legal advice to all residents of Merton, irrespective of income. The freephone number 0800 640 4254 is available to call every Thursday between 10.30am and 12.30pm and will be answered by a member of our housing team.
If you live in Merton and have a problem with your housing, please use the advice helpline to get in touch. We are here to help and getting legal advice can make the difference between staying in your home and losing it.
