We know that access to services such as housing officers and social workers has been reduced during the pandemic. Issues such as disrepair and antisocial behaviour have gone largely unreported and have worsened as a result. Moreover, it is estimated that there are around 800,000 private renters in rent arrears across England and Wales.
In order to increase access to advice, in June we launched a weekly housing adviceline for residents of Merton, and we have received funding from the Wandsworth Grant Fund to launch a similar project for residents of Wandsworth. From Monday 19 July, our weekly adviceline will enable all residents of Wandsworth to receive free legal advice on housing issues, irrespective of income.
The freephone number 0800 538 5662 is available to call every Monday between the hours of 12.30pm and 2.30pm and will be answered by a member of our housing team.
If you live in the borough of Wandsworth and have a problem with your housing, please use the advice helpline to get in touch. We are here to help and getting legal advice can make the difference between staying in your home and losing it.
