Shanice Danso

Shanice joined the Law Centre as a Crisis Navigator in November 2020. She enjoys working closely with clients to help them overcome their immediate issues – such as being behind with rent or mortgage payments – and finds it particularly rewarding being able to help people receive grants. One of the first clients she worked with was struggling with her finances and Shanice was able to help her get a grant for her electricity bill to free up money to go towards her rent arrears.

Shanice has a particular specialism in the crossover between money advice and housing, as a result of her work with both teams. She is very knowledgeable about schemes and grants, such as discretionary housing payments (DHPs), that can help people meet their housing costs. She would encourage people to attend webinars at the Law Centre to get more information about this before their situation escalates. Especially during the pandemic, when lots of people are being made redundant and relying on universal credit, this information can be particularly useful and can make a difference to someone struggling with the housing costs.
