Deep concern over Government’s proposal for asylum seekers

We join with others in expressing huge concern about the Government’s proposal to send asylum seekers who arrive in the UK by boat from across the Channel to Rwanda on a one-way ticket.

Pradeep Kumar, our immigration team leader, commented:

“Many of the asylum seekers we represent have come through experiences of torture, trafficking and persecution. They need a place of safety where they can be supported to rebuild their lives. To send them to Rwanda, one of the poorest countries in the world, is inhumane and shows a shocking lack of care on the part of the Government. We are deeply concerned this appalling step is even being considered.”
