What you’ll need for your free initial advice appointment

If you’ve been offered a free initial advice appointment with one of our volunteer legal advisers, please read this useful information. It will help you know what you need to do:

  • before your appointment
  • on the day of your appointment

Due to Covid-19, we’re currently providing free initial advice by phone only.

Before your appointment

For the advice you receive to be as helpful as possible, our volunteer legal advisers need to be able to see your documents before your appointment.

If you’ve been given a phone appointment, please email scans or photographs of all relevant documents to clinics@swllc.org before your appointment.

You can see what documents might be relevant in this guide to what documents you’ll need.

If you’re not able to scan or email documents, please let us know when we’re booking your appointment and we’ll try to help. You can also tell us by phoning 020 8767 2777 or sending us a message.

On the day of your appointment

Once you’ve sent us your documents, one of our volunteer legal advisers will phone you on the date and time you’ve been given. Please note that this call will come through as a ‘Private number’.

Please ensure you answer the phone call, as unfortunately our busy advisers may not be able to try to call you more than once.
