10K Walk for Justice

On Monday 9 May, our team joined with around 300 lawyers, caseworkers, volunteers and students from across Surrey to take on the 10K Guildford Legal Walk. The annual event, organised by the London Legal Support Trust, was set up to raise vital funds to ensure that everyone in Surrey has fair access to justice.

This year’s walk was set off by His Honour Christopher Critchlow, the High Sheriff of Surrey, and has so far raised over £13,000.

Patrick Marples, our CEO, who took part in the walk said:

“Although Surrey has the reputation of being an affluent area, there are huge pockets of need in the county and the money raised from this event will help ensure people aren’t cut off from accessing legal advice because they can’t afford a solicitor.”

Also at the walk was Eve Rogers, our new Community Engagement Manager for Surrey and Kingston, who is currently mapping the provision and community need for free and low-cost legal advice in the area. As part of this work, on Monday we launched a Community Consulation in the form of a brief survey for anyone who lives or works in Surrey/Kingston.

The Consultation will run until 20 June 2022 and can be accessed here.
