Justice Picnic

30 July was the 73rd anniversary of the Legal Aid and Advice Act. Our CEO Patrick Marples spoke live on Tuesday 2 August on The Big Breakfast Radio Show about the original intentions of legal aid and we continued marking the anniversary with a justice picnic in Croydon’s Park Hill Park in the afternoon.

As well as an opportunity to reflect on how – despite the huge cuts to the legal aid budget – law centres remain committed to ensuring members of our community can access justice, we also heard from a number of guest speakers about what they are doing to promote justice locally.

We are grateful to Hannah from SOAS Detainee Support, Cllr Ria Patel, Jackson from Harrow Law Centre, and Jack from Citizens UK for their inspiring talks.
